It feels like forever since I've<strike> knitted</strike> finished a sweater and it feels Good!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jbVuXvmd_O0/UlrteGc7CaI/AAAAAAAAEIo/Y3IGxd4-YKg/s1600/059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jbVuXvmd_O0/UlrteGc7CaI/AAAAAAAAEIo/Y3IGxd4-YKg/s400/059.JPG" height="400" width="286" /></a></div>
The Longboard Pullover is a very wearable and comfy sweater that will follow me into Fall when worn with a long sleeve tissue tee. The texture of the Rowan Panama fiber (55% viscose, 33% cotton and 12% linen) is most desirable and adds a lot of attitude...Oh Yeah!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gK0XX1avmWQ/Ulrt1AiqvzI/AAAAAAAAEIw/zIb8vzo-9NM/s1600/062.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gK0XX1avmWQ/Ulrt1AiqvzI/AAAAAAAAEIw/zIb8vzo-9NM/s400/062.JPG" height="400" width="263" /></a></div>
The drawstring at the bottom of the sweater is so cute whether you tighten it around the waist or simply wear it loose allowing for a true tunic to be enjoyed with leggings and boots. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NLuUEOyaNxk/Ulrt963GgpI/AAAAAAAAEI4/pRPRPJKqgGA/s1600/071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NLuUEOyaNxk/Ulrt963GgpI/AAAAAAAAEI4/pRPRPJKqgGA/s400/071.JPG" height="310" width="400" /></a></div>
The cowl collar has an eyelet row at the base of the collar and one that is encased at the top for the drawstring. Once you put this sweater on you find the drawstrings allow for several interesting neck options. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Up next is yet another sweater, Coco! The back is completed and now I have moved on to the fronts of this V- neck cardigan with the cute little set in pockets.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I have an infatuation with all things Fall so it's only natural that the Annual Local Fair excites me. Doesn't matter if I get to attend or not, I get a rush seeing it on the news, seeing pictures of friends on Facebook with their kids or reading of the festivities in the local newspaper (yes, the Gardener still has his daily ritual of reading and actually holding the news in black and white print)!<br />
<br />
Every year there is a section in newspaper showing the recipes of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for baked good. Of course I'm all Over That and normally bake at least one of the winning recipes.<br />
<br />
This year I baked the 1st place winning cookie:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strong>Kahlua Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookies</strong></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 cup butter-flavored shortening 11/2 teas baking powder</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 cup dark brown sugar 1 Tbls Mocha Kahlua liqueur</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
21/4 cups cake flour 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup crushed Heath Bars</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Cream shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar and Kahlua (in an electric mixer) until light and fluffy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Sift together cake flour, salt and baking powder; set aside.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Add the eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture; increase mixing speed until well mixed. Slowly add the dry ingredients (on low speed) and combine well. Stir in the chocolate chips and Heath Bars. Cover and chill the dough 24 hours to allow the ingredients to blend.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Scoop large scoops (about the size of a golf ball) onto lined cookie sheets. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
6. Bake 11 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. Rotate the baking sheet after 5 minutes for even browning.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7. Cool and store in an airtight container.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is easy to understand how this cookie won The Blue Ribbon! It is a chewy, delightful cookie that will be baked at my house again! The recipe resulted in 4 dozen Fabulous Cookies!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dl7lBED3Xnk/UlsO1bizu0I/AAAAAAAAEJw/xVEUJk1zjIM/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dl7lBED3Xnk/UlsO1bizu0I/AAAAAAAAEJw/xVEUJk1zjIM/s400/004.JPG" height="263" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(those shiny flakes are the melted Heath Bar pieces...........BE STILL my Heart)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wishing you a day filled with many Blessings and hope you enjoy everything that is Fall-Like in your life!</div>

Working the Stash is both fun and most satisfying, especially when one has it matched with a project one is excited about!</div>

Plans are in place for my next sweater venture...<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tea-with-jam-and-bread">Tea with Jam and Bread</a> by Heidi Kirrmaier. This is a perfect sweater for my now retired lifestyle. It is a casual, easy to wear sweater knit with a worsted weight fiber. TwJaB will wear easily with jeans and tennis shoes or tights and boots (of course tights and boots will be my favorite choice)! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Knitting like Gang Busters to finish my Longboard Pullover and it's looking like a gauge for TwJaB will be started within the week!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My color selections are; Main Color - Sweatshirt (light grey); Top Stripe and Bottom Sleeve Stripe - Truffle Hunt (brown) and Lower Body Stripe - Postcard (pinkish grey) </div>

This week more cookies were baked. I have always loved Peanut Cookies, but had never baked them. So this was a first for me. The recipe certainly filled my Huge cookie jar and it looks like the jar will be empty in no time. <a href="http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Classic-Peanut-Butter-Cookies/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=peanut%20butter%20cookies&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page">These </a>will be baked again at my house.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added a step to this recipe that will be used from this time forward....my first batch of 4 cookies were baked to test the baking time. It was worth the extra batch time and I knew exactly the baking time for my oven that resulted perfect cookie for my taste.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One change was made to this recipe. I added 1/4 cup more peanut butter to enhance that peanut buttery flavor and make for a moister cookie. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It was time for a knitted sweater unlike stockinette or plain old garter; so now I find myself in the middle of lots of texture and I Likkie! Today I completed the back of my <a href="http://www.knittingdaily.com/media/p/108424.aspx">Longboard Pullover</a>. Now on to the front, which is a duplicate of the back (another thing I likkie). Once the two pieces are sewn together it is finished with a cute Cowl neck with a Drawstring made of crocheted chains that runs thru an eyelet round at the base of the Cowl. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gO5Iwg1QSWo/UjI_rxH8DTI/AAAAAAAAEHI/Bx7QKtsKKWU/s1600/026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gO5Iwg1QSWo/UjI_rxH8DTI/AAAAAAAAEHI/Bx7QKtsKKWU/s640/026.JPG" width="420" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have completed a couple pairs of socks in the last couple of months and here are a couple of pics of socks I have on the needles now. I love them sooo much! The pattern <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tadpoles">Tadpoles</a>, is a freebie that shouldn't be passed up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uluNBUBKGQc/UjI_22j0RqI/AAAAAAAAEHQ/FoVR3kqFMgI/s1600/051.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uluNBUBKGQc/UjI_22j0RqI/AAAAAAAAEHQ/FoVR3kqFMgI/s400/051.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
The yarn is a Merino, Cashmere and Nylon blend that is major lovable. Look at the pretty little specks of pink here and there!!<br />

<strong></strong><br />
This afternoon I dug deep into my recipes and found this old, tried and proved Oatmeal Cookie recipe. It is actually the recipe on the inside lid of the Quaker Oaks Can and results in 4 dozen chewy on the inside while crisp on the outside delicious cookies. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PTxGhv43nKg/UjJAGIv4rhI/AAAAAAAAEHg/6UVN_bKdaxE/s1600/065.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PTxGhv43nKg/UjJAGIv4rhI/AAAAAAAAEHg/6UVN_bKdaxE/s400/065.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I added white raisins and chopped pecans for a bold and filling sweet delight. Sometimes it's just hard to improve on an old standby.<br />
<br />
A few months ago I pulled my box of Quaker Oaks from the pantry to cook up a pan of breakfast oatmeal. When I sat MR. QUAKER OAKS on my counter I was shocked to see how young he was looking to me now!!! <em>OMG...that's when I realized I must be slightly Maturing (and When did that happen?). </em> As a little person and young lady I remember wondering why they had that OLD WHITE HEADED MAN on the box!<br />
<br />
Now days when I reach for that same oatmeal can I find myself thinking, " Man, Mr. Quaker Oaks is looking Good today"! Again, sometimes it's just hard to improve on an old standby!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4Q1MG_CwGCk/UjJASJnQhBI/AAAAAAAAEHo/mj069CokUDs/s1600/067.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4Q1MG_CwGCk/UjJASJnQhBI/AAAAAAAAEHo/mj069CokUDs/s640/067.JPG" width="420" /></a></div>
Check out my new Cookie Jar. I picked this up while doing a little TJ Maxx cruising last week! I had been looking for a new cookie jar and couldn't find one that was both practical and easy on the eyes. It is a large jar, 13" tall and 26" around with a heavy duty rubber gasket in the lid to keep cookies fresh for days. This jar Rocks and for $12.98, I think it was a<strike> steal </strike>deal.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NZEOJG77K_g/UjJAWPlnGvI/AAAAAAAAEH0/G0Qkk3AwfEE/s1600/068.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NZEOJG77K_g/UjJAWPlnGvI/AAAAAAAAEH0/G0Qkk3AwfEE/s400/068.JPG" width="293" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wishing you a day filled with many Blessings and take comfort when you recognize an old standby in your life!</div>

Here is a look at my last finished shawl, Marigold by Susanna . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k_25vzwTDuA/Uii5sskmkUI/AAAAAAAAEFU/TVAjHxwyOZc/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="342" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k_25vzwTDuA/Uii5sskmkUI/AAAAAAAAEFU/TVAjHxwyOZc/s400/014.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And here is an up-close and personal look at the beading. This is my second project this year with beading. I like the end result of a little sparkle a lot, but don't want to OD on it as it really slows me down.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JuptzmUTVNE/Uii9dO7UvpI/AAAAAAAAEG8/RFCoWmNmC94/s1600/023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JuptzmUTVNE/Uii9dO7UvpI/AAAAAAAAEG8/RFCoWmNmC94/s640/023.JPG" width="497" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cast on extra stitches to Marigold as I wanted it a set wider than the original pattern. The 101 stitch cast on resulted in a very nice, very wearable width. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BC6dQ12khg0/Uii52nZ9Q0I/AAAAAAAAEFc/2WvneP3aYoQ/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BC6dQ12khg0/Uii52nZ9Q0I/AAAAAAAAEFc/2WvneP3aYoQ/s640/018.JPG" width="408" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is my second shawl this summer knit with Blue Heron Egyptian Mercerized Cotton (<em><strong>OH MY</strong></em>, I just realized I failed to blog about that first project, Radiance....I'll save that for a future blog!) Anyhow, back to Marigold that was knit using #5 needles in the colorway called Blueberry. The color is so pretty and the shawl is lightweight and I really like it a lot, but was glad when it was finished. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BWSt5nPNjeQ/Uii6Kss1OzI/AAAAAAAAEFk/tJVq9FQkvC8/s1600/034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BWSt5nPNjeQ/Uii6Kss1OzI/AAAAAAAAEFk/tJVq9FQkvC8/s400/034.JPG" width="297" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I think this one will be worn often. Actually I'm going to a Birthday Dinner tonight and think Marigold will accompany me!!<br />

This is a recipe shared by Kristenlynnea at her <a href="http://knitionaryrecipes.blogspot.com/">new recipe blog</a>. As wonderful as these did turn out for me, I think they were a bit thicker than the recipe calls for, next time I will roll about 1/2 as thin as my first attempt. BUT they still were yummy and also wonderful for a little coffee dipping in the morning!<br />

Today is the Birthday of an awesome woman that taught me everything. She is and has always been my Best Friend and my Biggest Cheerleader!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Georgie is beautiful and had a real taste for style right from the start. Here is a picture of her at 6 years old (which she gave me a long time ago). Mom says a guy would come to your house, take your picture and days later appear with the finished product framed and ready to hang. She remembers sitting on The piano bench in the parlor dolled up in a dressy little silky blue dress with a huge blue ribbon in her hair and lots of long curls!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>Told you she is Beautiful!</em> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kU5RlVZYrWY/Uh9Pty2tkiI/AAAAAAAAEEQ/URXTMuZ5gmI/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kU5RlVZYrWY/Uh9Pty2tkiI/AAAAAAAAEEQ/URXTMuZ5gmI/s640/015.JPG" width="458" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Mom is a great teacher not just to me, but to The Twin, many cousins and more students in the public school system for 38 years than could be counted. She is a strong, independent, nourishing woman that has set the bar high for us graced with her presence these many years.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H2KB6_GGfpE/Uh9PVCgeYEI/AAAAAAAAEEM/stf37AgqXhw/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H2KB6_GGfpE/Uh9PVCgeYEI/AAAAAAAAEEM/stf37AgqXhw/s640/009.JPG" width="492" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mom has always been my expert and<em> "Go To" </em>Person! From her I learned to sew (even pleated drapery and suits), crochet, bake pies, whip up potato salad and make mac & cheese from scratch! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While feeding me spiritually and emotionally she continues to give my heart peace - like no other. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Birthday Mom! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Love You. Mean It. </div>

<br />
<strong>Shrimp in Roasted Pepper Sauce</strong><br />
<br />
Drain 12 oz Roasted Peppers<br />
8 oz cream cheese<br />
2 cloves chopped<br />
1/2 cup chicken broth<br />
1/2 teas red pepper flakes<br />
1/4 cup fresh basil chopped<br />
<br />
Process all of above then heat in skillet till very warm.<br />
<br />
Add 2 pounds shrimp to above hot sauce and cook until no longer transparent.<br />
<br />
Serve over pasta of your choice.<br />
<br />
<em>(I actually used 3/4 cup chicken broth)</em><br />
<em></em><br />
We loved this dish and already look forward to whipping and eating it up again soon!<br />
<br />
<strong>Now for some knitting news! </strong> Someone<em> (that would be me)</em> has a finished project Blocking! This wrap, Marigold, is designed by Susanna IC and is yet another project knit with Blue Heron-Egyptian Mercerized Cotton. I'm telling you I just can't get enough of this fiber; so much so, I have a skein of red and two skeins of grey in my yarn bar. <br />
<br />
More details on the wrap later, but for now......<em><strong>DRY Marigold DRY!!</strong> </em><br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Believe this or not, my bestie and I have wandered away from wraps/shawls and started sweaters. <a href="http://ncknittinchickcom.blogspot.com/">Bestie </a>is knitting up COCO, a lovely lacey cardigan in <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Essentially-Feminine-Knits-Must-Have-Designs/dp/1596687843/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1377734860&sr=1-1&keywords=essentially+feminine+knits">this</a> beautiful book and I elected to knit a textured pullover found in <a href="http://www.interweavestore.com/knitscene-summer-2013">this</a> special Knitscene issue.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Meet my Longboard Pullover designed by Amanda Bell. What a fun and simple 4 row repeat pattern and the Rowan Panama (linen blend) fiber is fabulous in this Dot Stitch.</div>

Well, I think that's it for today. But, tomorrow is a Very Special Day so check in if you get a chance.<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
After 28 years working behind an office desk 8 to 5 - 5 days a week, I officially retired on April 30th! The last 3 1/2 months I have been taking time to relax, recreate, reconnect with family, friends, my home, my kitchen, and enjoying knitting time more than ever!</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
With work <strike>obsessions</strike> responsibilities left behind, I find myself infatuated with new avenues like, The Pottery Barn, home organization ( I have purchased enough baskets and bins to stock a small shop- but OH how fabulous my cabinets, closets and drawers look), Pinterest, thrift shopping, cooking and canning.....<em>yes lots and lots of green beans and tomatoes-I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful teacher-My Mom</em>! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Looking forward, you may even see a few of my favorite recipes posted soon. Actually I whipped up a Delightful Red Pepper Shrimp dish this week that The Gardener and MIL ranted and raved about (thanks go to my cousin, Sharon). This is wonderful when served over your favorite pasta!</div>

<br />
This Winter knitting scarves/shawls and hat sets seem to be "my thing"! Unfortunately we had another extremely warm winter and I didn't get to wear the pieces as much as I would have liked. First up is the Multi stripe Kidsilk Haze suite. If you haven't experienced this wonderful fiber yet, you should do so. The new Rowan Stripe, my colorway selection of #00202, is beautiful and was a fun knit. The shawl is a take on the scarf pattern on the ball band. I simply cast on 120 stitches for the width and knit 2.5 balls in stockinette ( I had great plans for the remaining .5 ball). This project was my constant buddy to knit anywhere:anytime! I found I wear this shawl more as a scarf 'cause it is so fluid and airy and simply lovely wrapped around the neck, so why not??<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DhL_A1DbUaQ/UW3UP7E4dBI/AAAAAAAAD_A/C7iWVOOCVcg/s1600/047.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DhL_A1DbUaQ/UW3UP7E4dBI/AAAAAAAAD_A/C7iWVOOCVcg/s400/047.JPG" width="311" /></a></div>
The accompanying hat is the Jared Flood pattern, RoseBud. Don't you adore Jared and his patterns? My RoseBud was knit with 1 skein of Malabrigo Sock Yarn, #853-Abril, and about .5 skein of the remaining Stripe Kidsilk Haze. All I can say about this Slouchy Hat when knit in the Malabrigo/Kidsilk Haze combination is W.O.W!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UKQSKJXYtnk/UW3euDuFhVI/AAAAAAAAD_0/-Ul1UIAodCo/s1600/152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UKQSKJXYtnk/UW3euDuFhVI/AAAAAAAAD_0/-Ul1UIAodCo/s400/152.JPG" width="313" /></a></div>
<br />
The sock yarn was held doubled with one strand of the Kidsilk Haze that resulted in a gradual color change that eliminated any harsh stripes and a hat that is just scrumptious! Don't take my word for it, be your own judge....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nKY1gzuDma8/UW3cK0rJKuI/AAAAAAAAD_c/KVVb226rFdI/s1600/050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nKY1gzuDma8/UW3cK0rJKuI/AAAAAAAAD_c/KVVb226rFdI/s400/050.JPG" width="260" /></a></div>
A Sweet & Easy <strike>Set</strike> Treat!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Oi0saitJeE/UW3dklTPHpI/AAAAAAAAD_s/E0GthVdiMNU/s1600/102.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Oi0saitJeE/UW3dklTPHpI/AAAAAAAAD_s/E0GthVdiMNU/s400/102.JPG" width="280" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up is the Horseshoe Scarf by Kat Buckspan (a free pattern..don't you just luv that) and the Picot Edge Hat that...I.COULD.JUST.EAT.!<br />
<br />
The Horseshoe Scarf was knit on #5 needles with Queensland Collection-Kathmandu-Aran in colorway #164 and Rowan Purelife in colorway, Alder Buckhorn. The gold and black combination is totally out of the box for me, but a nice change! This is an easy 4 row repeat lace pattern that is great for a scarf and hat set. What an awesome pattern for gift giving.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4pPMP5pyJDY/UW3jYjX2jpI/AAAAAAAAEAM/LyhFPWPvjIs/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4pPMP5pyJDY/UW3jYjX2jpI/AAAAAAAAEAM/LyhFPWPvjIs/s400/001.JPG" width="260" /></a></div>
<br />
Now about that Picot Edge Hat (that I.COULD.JUST.EAT). This hat could have numerous looks (check out Rav) and seems every one's is most unique. I knew I wanted my hat a bit fuller than the original pattern. The brim was cast on with 17 stitches and knit to 18 1/2" long or 84 garter ridges. For the hat I picked up 84 stitches, knit the first row then increased the following row to 126 stitches. It was knit working the custer pattern till it measured 7 1/2" from tip of picot.<br />
(this pic is a tad yellow but I liked the close up shot)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Vmo-IA-xVGU/UW3h6SNWrHI/AAAAAAAAD_8/UGrHZx-sNiw/s1600/042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Vmo-IA-xVGU/UW3h6SNWrHI/AAAAAAAAD_8/UGrHZx-sNiw/s400/042.JPG" width="391" /></a></div>
The flower is also a free pattern I found on line called "Sweet and Simple Rosette" by Eileen Vito. The flower is adorned with a vintage earring from my Grandmother's collection.<br />

After soooo many shawls it's time for a Sweater!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My sweater selection was selected from my stash and has been in waiting for a couple of years.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now is CIA's time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cia is a Louet pattern knit with Kidlin, a sweet fiber of 49% linen/35% kid mohair/16% nylon. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And let me say, "Loving. Cranberry. Colorway!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KZdAg2LhZBA/UJ7P9czshdI/AAAAAAAAD8w/NG6mwdRXIxo/s1600/123.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KZdAg2LhZBA/UJ7P9czshdI/AAAAAAAAD8w/NG6mwdRXIxo/s400/123.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Enough about the new, time now to entertain you with my Rockefeller! This is another Stephen West pattern that provide lots of twists and turns for quite the eventful knit. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6HDaEOt4Gk8/UJ7QeVyRDpI/AAAAAAAAD9I/t2Foci9VV7c/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6HDaEOt4Gk8/UJ7QeVyRDpI/AAAAAAAAD9I/t2Foci9VV7c/s400/018.JPG" width="346" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The project was most interesting, then came those wings you see in the front. I sort of made up the wing color combination to ensure I had enough of the colors used to complete a second wing. Just an after thought, I think I would have liked wider stripes, but all is OK and I still think it is a lovely piece.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N7YGbBF1-Cg/UJ7QMkik04I/AAAAAAAAD84/kXu28H7MaYo/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N7YGbBF1-Cg/UJ7QMkik04I/AAAAAAAAD84/kXu28H7MaYo/s400/008.JPG" width="312" /></a></div>
<br />
The burnt rust colorway is quite "outside the box" for me...but I do find it quite pleasing and happy with the color combination!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_N5tGNoZoq4/UJ7QVJOoWNI/AAAAAAAAD9A/Y5pmPzq-Sm8/s1600/003+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="348" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_N5tGNoZoq4/UJ7QVJOoWNI/AAAAAAAAD9A/Y5pmPzq-Sm8/s400/003+(2).jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
My Rockefeller was knit with 5 different colorways of Simply Shetland - Silk & Lambswool (discontinued) and 1 skein of Madelinetosh tosh merino light in the colorway, Moss. #3 needles was used on this project.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1c3lviAEI7s/UJ7QkzcmA8I/AAAAAAAAD9Q/kUSHZSTfuKs/s1600/036.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="325" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1c3lviAEI7s/UJ7QkzcmA8I/AAAAAAAAD9Q/kUSHZSTfuKs/s400/036.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Till next time, be well, be happy and try something out of the normal for yourself real soon!</div>

<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pattern purchased at <a href="http://saffsite.org/">SAFF</a> in 2008!</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This pattern was in a protective sleeve and placed in my shawl notebook along with my very long list of "to be knitted someday". It was when I saw a co-knitters's (<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/Patrice">Patrice</a>) version of this design that it caught my attention again! Patrice's gift of color is fabulous and all you Rav knitters out there should check her out...what a treat!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CU3CAJ3p_hw/UHGc15RkitI/AAAAAAAAD8E/T6Uv-3Gu71Y/s1600/036.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CU3CAJ3p_hw/UHGc15RkitI/AAAAAAAAD8E/T6Uv-3Gu71Y/s640/036.JPG" width="424" /></a></div>
It was much to my surprise when I reviewed the start and finish date of this project and realized it was knit in 10 days! That was pretty fast for such a slow knitter as myself. Perhaps it was all the color change and simplicity of the pattern that kept it speeding along. In any case, I ADORE IT and I LOVE IT!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t6vjJpCGWWE/UHGdTl6GuKI/AAAAAAAAD8M/z375VZDlkww/s1600/087.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t6vjJpCGWWE/UHGdTl6GuKI/AAAAAAAAD8M/z375VZDlkww/s400/087.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
The piece was knit using all Koigu KPPPM on #6 needles. Here are the main colors used: P6l6, P854, P511,P848 and P3275. I added occasional rows of stash Koigu here and there just for fun and a little punch.<br />
<br />
I did follow a couple of my own rules: 1). I knit the eyelet row, the row before and after the eyelet row in yellow and 2). whatever colorway used Before starting the eyelet setup row was picked up again at the end of the eyelet rows. I think these steps allowed a little formality in the piece and eliminated the possibility of a hodge-podge result. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l_96p9F7oIo/UHGdofjN0LI/AAAAAAAAD8U/klYqb1VizQQ/s1600/060.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="366" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l_96p9F7oIo/UHGdofjN0LI/AAAAAAAAD8U/klYqb1VizQQ/s400/060.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
At times I find myself feeling a bit guilty when I look at all those patterns and books (and let's not even think about the stash fiber), but, Ohhhh <em>The Satisfaction</em> when that pattern that had been forgotten or overlooked for so long is once again renewed and exciting! It's like winning First Prize or something and in this case my First Prize was Garden Party.Knitting Divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16651100662791407095noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086044724184749785.post-49292199838560516582012-10-04T15:25:00.001-07:002012-10-04T18:33:28.161-07:00going to the dogs<div style="font-size: 0.8em; line-height: 1.6em; margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px;">

The Stole is a super straightforward knit by designer Theresa Gaffey.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BzFEWzl_sMY/UF8wIkru7fI/AAAAAAAAD5U/qW96jwfRXMc/s1600/079.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BzFEWzl_sMY/UF8wIkru7fI/AAAAAAAAD5U/qW96jwfRXMc/s400/079.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern is found in the publication, <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/books/Wearwithall_Knits_for_Your_Life__D31915.html">Wearwithall - Knits for your Life</a>! This book includes several knits that appeal to me, like <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/blanket-17">this</a>, <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/womans-cardigan-12">this</a> and <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hats-6">this</a>! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QnO5k01VLVc/UF8vzOmT2BI/AAAAAAAAD5M/iQ2ogVu252E/s1600/073.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QnO5k01VLVc/UF8vzOmT2BI/AAAAAAAAD5M/iQ2ogVu252E/s400/073.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now back to The Stole, or should I say, My Stole! I chose colors close to the original pattern (I understand the original colors were discontinued or renumbered). Anyhow, my shades are right on!</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What a Grand project for the beginning knitter with the simple Knit/Purl Rib Pattern. One might think knitting all that ribbing would work itself into a state of boredom, but that is the furthest thing from the truth. This was a relaxing and intoxicating knit that lead from one pretty color to the next, just let the fiber do most of the work for you .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TMVeO_Vftwo/UF8wZEQeQpI/AAAAAAAAD5c/YUIz_92-qHM/s1600/094.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TMVeO_Vftwo/UF8wZEQeQpI/AAAAAAAAD5c/YUIz_92-qHM/s400/094.JPG" width="325" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Skinny</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fiber: Isager </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Alpaca 2 (fingering)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Needle: #3 US (40" circular)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Knitting Schedule: August 7 - September 19 </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zx4RJTBsQKE/UF8viEvlByI/AAAAAAAAD5E/C2WApIVXp_4/s1600/067.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zx4RJTBsQKE/UF8viEvlByI/AAAAAAAAD5E/C2WApIVXp_4/s400/067.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Stole is my second project using Isager and certainly will not be my last. Both the lace weight and the fingering weight resulted in the softest, best feel against the skin goodness you have ever experienced. I simply can hardly wait to knit my next Isager project! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
LYS that carry Isager are few and far between. I purchased my Isager by mail from <a href="http://www.hillsboroughyarn.com/">HillsboroughYarn</a>, and as always, was most impressed and pleased with their helpful, experienced team and major quick delivery! (I hear they are the largest Isager retailer in the states) </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Stole and Isager are all the buzz with knitters in my area and may be just that knit you are dreaming for....!</div>

It was September 9th and my BFF, Bronna, and her family were enjoying her birthday celebration <a href="http://www.ocharleys.com/">here</a>! In the meantime, I was home all comfy on my corner of the <strike>world </strike>sofa, listening to an audible book and Knitting; when my IPhone dings with a pic of Bronna AKA "The Birthday Girl"............. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lvW7xBO-GBY/UFu5e05P-uI/AAAAAAAAD4c/u78UDb1CFJQ/s1600/Bronna+Birthday+Dinner+2" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lvW7xBO-GBY/UFu5e05P-uI/AAAAAAAAD4c/u78UDb1CFJQ/s400/Bronna+Birthday+Dinner+2" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My thoughts were, "Man, Bronna looks like a Happy Birthday Girl"! I mean Happy as in ...one for me now and one for me later...Happy Stuff! Then her daughter Connie also sends me this text<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em> 2 massages for mom's birthday. One for you and one for her and then a gift </em></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em>certificate to Bonefish for dinner after. I knew she wouldn't get the massage </em></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em>unless you went too so I bought you one too</em></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em></em> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Isn't that about the coolest thing EVER! It was then that I understood the HUGE smile on The Birthday Girl's face and Connie, what a darn and creative gift for your Mom <span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">(and me).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Well, this week Bronna and I had that dinner at Bone Fish Grill that consisted of Grilled Scallops and Shrimp with all the fixings and lots of yummy bread, good conversation and a little taste of knitting at my house afterwards. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The massages/facials are in the planning stages and just waiting for the taking!!!<br />
<br />
I am extremely blessed to have a Special and Dear Friend that also comes with such a Warm, Thoughtful and Awesome Family.<br />
<br />
Till next time, be well and savor those special occasions in your life...'cause those are some of life's Happy Stuff!Knitting Divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16651100662791407095noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086044724184749785.post-86425374822725309882012-09-16T16:26:00.001-07:002012-09-16T16:26:44.995-07:00a little this and that<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my third Koigu Linen Stitch Scarf AKA My Spring Linen Stitch Scarf! Again I used Koigu (KPPPM) and again totally enjoyed the fiber and pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5OZ3HX51cHI/UFZT90qJE4I/AAAAAAAAD3E/xiWUMiNIbwo/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5OZ3HX51cHI/UFZT90qJE4I/AAAAAAAAD3E/xiWUMiNIbwo/s640/009.JPG" width="494" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Koigu Pastel colorways used for my Spring Scarf are P539, P130 and P454. The plan was to complete this project in time for Spring but I was side tracked with other knit temptations and just finished it on September 9th.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G31H-84zuTY/UFZTnJerL3I/AAAAAAAAD28/vNUz_YqHzYo/s1600/072.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G31H-84zuTY/UFZTnJerL3I/AAAAAAAAD28/vNUz_YqHzYo/s640/072.JPG" width="422" /></a></div>
<br />
This 3rd Linen Stitch Scarf isn't my last as I still have "The Twin's" to knit for Christmas and I can hardly wait to see the lovely Koigu greys and blues melt together on that one.<br />

Are any of you familiar with Rowan's Kidsilk Haze Stripe yarn? The striped pattern is a delight to knit and will make an easy to wear scarf/shoulder shawl. I'm using the pattern on back of the yarn band for the base of this project, but cast on 120 stitches instead of 51 stitches. The pattern is called "1 Ball Scarf"....guess I'll call mine "3 Ball Scarf" as that's how much larger I plan to knit mine.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A great project to simply<strike> knit</strike> enjoy a little here and there. This one is kept in my project bag at all times. </div>

When I actually put Heartbreak on this morning I found myself wanting to wear it in <strike>formal </strike> boring shawl fashion…you know, shawl simply hanging over shoulders. BUT I realized this knit had more surprises in store when worn with point in the front.............</div>

A wrap with the wearability of a shawl and a scarf.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kEz9Ro-xw9A/UALrcyH4sgI/AAAAAAAAD04/DsNX9lpg-gs/s1600/013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kEz9Ro-xw9A/UALrcyH4sgI/AAAAAAAAD04/DsNX9lpg-gs/s400/013.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
This is a knit that combines two colors with much interest featuring a Houndstooth Slipstitch and plenty of good old Garter Stitch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dkLXpy9bz4U/UALrkV8O-DI/AAAAAAAAD1A/Y4lkaIzLpIE/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dkLXpy9bz4U/UALrkV8O-DI/AAAAAAAAD1A/Y4lkaIzLpIE/s400/015.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I really like this wrap and loved finishing it off with the Picot bind off. I considered eliminating the Picot Edging, but sooooo pleased I revisited that thought. The edging is a sweet and lovely addition and proof again we should all think outside the box!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2EsMx4na1CM/UALrv0I5JZI/AAAAAAAAD1M/f2_tCh9M6Mg/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2EsMx4na1CM/UALrv0I5JZI/AAAAAAAAD1M/f2_tCh9M6Mg/s400/018.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>

The Skinny:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pattern: Sundry by Jennifer Dassau</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fiber: String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Colors: Alexandrite (1 skein)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pewter (1 skein)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Needle Size: # 6 US </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FrZ0Pv6CQys/UALsDr_mKaI/AAAAAAAAD1c/tOPs88_9ZLM/s1600/026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="322" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FrZ0Pv6CQys/UALsDr_mKaI/AAAAAAAAD1c/tOPs88_9ZLM/s400/026.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
This was my first experience with String Theory and was a most pleasing one. This is a strong ever sooo soft fiber with a wonderful sheen. Yeah...for tasting a new fiber!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Until next time, enjoy your Sunday and be open to the new experiences and ideas life brings you!Knitting Divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16651100662791407095noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086044724184749785.post-53447662582790460412012-06-28T17:57:00.000-07:002012-06-28T18:02:26.144-07:00seasons<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Seasons come and go in everyone's life and I seem to be in a Shawl/Scarf Season, with 6 of my last 8 projects being a Shawl or Scarf!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My last completed scarf is Carlisle!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NPWjbMfgi7k/T-zuFH4kCPI/AAAAAAAAD0M/Pke1e8FSnDY/s1600/042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NPWjbMfgi7k/T-zuFH4kCPI/AAAAAAAAD0M/Pke1e8FSnDY/s400/042.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<br /> There is so much to adore about the simplicity of this pattern that allows a knitter to branch out and let the creative juices to flow!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tp7R4NoANjw/T-zuQNPc3qI/AAAAAAAAD0U/jIL-UZNOLx4/s1600/037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tp7R4NoANjw/T-zuQNPc3qI/AAAAAAAAD0U/jIL-UZNOLx4/s400/037.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<br />Keep it simple with solid color blocks or go all out and even a little funky mixing stripes, tweeds and different textures if you like. The color and block size options are endless with this scarf that can be wrapped and wrapped or wrap once and let the colors dance while casually hanging loose.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ESvONjtUnes/T-zueNKeOgI/AAAAAAAAD0k/VHMaQjaibK0/s1600/023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ESvONjtUnes/T-zueNKeOgI/AAAAAAAAD0k/VHMaQjaibK0/s400/023.JPG" width="350" /></a></div>
<br /> I chose to knit Carlisle on #6 needles with 1 skein each of Koigu PPPM, #P129, P118A, P803, P137, P855, P531 and P309. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ip1XI26fz-k/T-zuo9eS16I/AAAAAAAAD0s/0-kO9dkKH_E/s1600/034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ip1XI26fz-k/T-zuo9eS16I/AAAAAAAAD0s/0-kO9dkKH_E/s400/034.JPG" width="296" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />A.n.y.h.o.w, I'm still in this Season which sees me in the mist of <a href="http://jenniferdassau.com/2012/05/04/sundry/">Sundry</a>! Much progress has been made on this project and I'm loving the construction of the piece and the luxurious 50%-Merino Wool, 50%-Silk blend of String Theory Fiber.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As I hold steadfast in this Season there are already plans and excitement building to begin knitting <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/stole-7">The Stole</a> and <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/all-the-shades-of-truth">The Shades of Truth</a>!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until next time, here's wishing you happiness in whatever Season you are in these days.</div>

</div>I could just die from all the cheerful, happiness of this piece! Betty should "heart" modeling Carlisle for you in the next few days. I'll give you all the project details in that post....the one thing I will share is that this project was knit with Koigu. I just can't get enough of that fiber!!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
A Special Thanks to my lovely knitting friend, Natalie, for her guidance thru out this project. She suggested I use the Lucy Neatby provisional cast on and she took time to walk me thru the attached i-cord and i-cord cast off process. The i-cord cast off makes for a wonderful finished edging. This is a very slow process, but is a million times worth the time investment. Again, Thank you Natalie, you are a constant source of inspiration! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The Isager Wool Fiber was a perfect selection for this project (truthfully I can't wait for my next Isager project)! After a nice cool bath, this earthly yarn is now an airy, light, soft and elegant fiber. Again...I L O V E it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

With lots of knitting on #3 needles and learning two new knitting techniques, finishing my Volt left me with a real sense of accomplishment and GOSH, more satisfaction than I had imagined. <br />

<em>Living life in the fast lane and I don't even get to look back!</em></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am now in celebration of my Mom's total recovery from a broken pelvis bone. There were the normal (whatever is normal) ups and downs that come when any change occurs in a family's structured life. But Mom is now 100% Mom again and we are elated to have her back in the driver's seat!! I can't wait to share another Mothers Days with her!<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One would think with all the extra activities that come with family injuries/sickness, it would be "the time" to have a soothing project on the needles; thus, the beginning of my much beloved VOLT! I purchased the 8 skeins of Isager months ago to knit an exact copy of the modeled shawl in<a href="http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/knitting/yarn/GraceAnnaFarrow/TheFineLine.asp"> this</a> book. O.K. All that was a good idea and the pattern is really quite simple. Many knitters chose to knit all the increases and decreases on the same row, but I really wanted to knit to the pattern and knit the decreases on the right side and the increases on the wrong side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8mWkxyJO4uo/T6cQnQSvMgI/AAAAAAAADyc/gzWCkqxD5w0/s1600/027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8mWkxyJO4uo/T6cQnQSvMgI/AAAAAAAADyc/gzWCkqxD5w0/s400/027.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My problem with the pattern came with my obsession to count every single stitch. OMG!! Each row has about 380 stitches! That counting is insane!! I mean I couldn't watch NCIS or Downtown Abbey (what a downer). After way more hours than I want to admit, caution was thrown to the wind and I decided to relax and enjoy the process by visually following the pattern on my needles. Easy... Peasy and this project is now serving me well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E--ml34bQkk/T6cQ_BzyuRI/AAAAAAAADys/5dA17tSgca4/s1600/012+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E--ml34bQkk/T6cQ_BzyuRI/AAAAAAAADys/5dA17tSgca4/s640/012+(2).jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Volt is an interesting and now the soothing knit I had hoped for, while the Isager wool is a wonderful earthly fiber that is softening with every stitch. I can assure you this will not be my last knit using Isager. Perhaps<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/stole-7"> this</a> will be my next Isager project. Love.Love.Love.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During my delightful visit with Mom this week-end I kept hearing much laughter regarding my 15 year old Great Nephew's new duties for the week-end. All 9th graders are required to complete the "Parenting Class" - Real Care and Reality Works! This involves full parenting responsibilities for caring for a new born baby. So Kannon James Anderson came home with The Nephew on Friday afternoon and will be diapered, feed, burped, cradled as needed and all cries satisfied when necessary. He will be graded based on results of data collected from his wrist band. </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(see wrist band and New Born, Kannon)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-49CvjX_W5tU/T6cljmxj0VI/AAAAAAAADy4/rqGEebgRIH4/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-49CvjX_W5tU/T6cljmxj0VI/AAAAAAAADy4/rqGEebgRIH4/s400/001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course, I had to see this to believe it....and how cute! I did sneak a picture of The Nephew but knew better than to post such evidence (with face forward). We can all relate to how a 15 year old boy of all boys might feel about such a venture.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyhow, here is a shot of Kannon and he appears to be loved and very well taken care...Looks like an A+ for the Nephew's parenting abilities. </div>

Calling all knitters that are looking for an interesting and just plain fun project....this one could be just The One!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9OsqF5yyts/T299EMEL2jI/AAAAAAAADxs/Y_OxlUYbG7k/s1600/042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9OsqF5yyts/T299EMEL2jI/AAAAAAAADxs/Y_OxlUYbG7k/s640/042.JPG" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
There really is a lot of knitting (all garter stitch) in Color Affection but on the other hand it's amazing how quickly it knits up. Guess it's all that gartering going on!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7ijyjOCaMZU/T299j7Htq_I/AAAAAAAADx8/hG26U4SHn-Q/s1600/025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7ijyjOCaMZU/T299j7Htq_I/AAAAAAAADx8/hG26U4SHn-Q/s640/025.JPG" width="419" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light makes for a very light and airy shawl that will be worn even in the spring and summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GVYdLMfqU-E/T2991rNOtFI/AAAAAAAADyE/CB335FhTwNg/s1600/033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GVYdLMfqU-E/T2991rNOtFI/AAAAAAAADyE/CB335FhTwNg/s400/033.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The scoop:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fiber: Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my second one and I would find it difficult to pick a favorite. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You seriously should give Color Affection a try, I think you will love the simplicity of the pattern and love all the striping going on! </div>Knitting Divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16651100662791407095noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086044724184749785.post-30506644894963133152012-03-04T15:16:00.001-08:002012-03-04T15:16:08.007-08:00My Water's Edge<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was quite exciting this morning when the temperature took a dive and I could wear my new Water's Edge. I really thought it would have to wait for it's debut till late next fall. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-L-iKlO-D4ow/T1PrVfPaalI/AAAAAAAADws/mnbaXyNynag/s1600/016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="371" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-L-iKlO-D4ow/T1PrVfPaalI/AAAAAAAADws/mnbaXyNynag/s400/016.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Gardener did a little photo shoot this morning just up the street from our house on the grounds of the yummy restaruant,<a href="http://noblesgrille.com/?page_id=19"> Nobles</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
The good news is::how fabulous this pattern is when knit with the lovely Rowan Kidsilk Aura, the bad news is::this fiber has been discontinued.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you are really interested in the Aura you may still find it on line...just work "<em>The Google"</em>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Lucky me....I have 11 skeins of the sweet Aura in my stash in Sapphire Blue!! AND it just may be another Water's Edge!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This Veera Valimaki design is a very cool, geometric pattern with unlimited color combinations!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XfPzTx_TagU/T0rOca6RJaI/AAAAAAAADv8/kzZSIPdJutg/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XfPzTx_TagU/T0rOca6RJaI/AAAAAAAADv8/kzZSIPdJutg/s640/007.JPG" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Seemed like I raced thru this one and found it hard to believe how quickly this knit up even with the 400 plus stitch rows toward the end. Maybe it was all that soothing and relaxing Garter stitch. I just wanted to keep knitting and knitting even while reading on my Nook Color! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-64aypymG9t0/T0rOzWgG65I/AAAAAAAADwM/OWzIpxDiUdw/s1600/020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-64aypymG9t0/T0rOzWgG65I/AAAAAAAADwM/OWzIpxDiUdw/s400/020.JPG" width="386" /></a></div>
Once blocked this is a long crescent shape shawl that will be worn not only as a shawl but as a scarf or kerchief....that's just how light and airy this piece is knit with Malabrigo. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tXdnkXUNrv8/T0rOqI5G9EI/AAAAAAAADwE/JXdmmacFfzw/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="338" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tXdnkXUNrv8/T0rOqI5G9EI/AAAAAAAADwE/JXdmmacFfzw/s400/011.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>

I was nervous about my color choice during the process but now that its finished and blocked I find it to be nice mated with a gray or white sweater.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U0w_zxmi3so/T0rPNXZt1BI/AAAAAAAADwc/mNMWIHthGSM/s1600/037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U0w_zxmi3so/T0rPNXZt1BI/AAAAAAAADwc/mNMWIHthGSM/s640/037.JPG" width="424" /></a></div>
With all these positives you know I will be casting on for my second Color Affection<em>....(guess you could see that one coming) AND</em> here is my MadelinetoshTosh Merino Light for #2!!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Do you<a href="http://knittingoncloudix.blogspot.com/2012/01/another-one-off-needles-and.html"> remember</a> I said a Linen Stitch Scarf would be in the making for The Twin, well here is a <em>sneak peek...........</em></div>

Of course nothing would do for him but Koigu - KPPPM and Claudia Hand Painted ! This should knit into a very handsome piece!<br />
<br />
The grey/brown taupe is Koigu - #P307<br />
The blue is Koigu - #2171<br />
The multi pastel is Claudia Hand Painted - Rock Creek<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These scarves are seriously addictive. Don't you think a pattern knit 4 times by a knitter would qualify for that status?</div>Knitting Divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16651100662791407095noreply@blogger.com2
